Precious metals

We only use precious metals for our jewelry because they are of higher value than the materials used for costume jewelry. Precious metals are also more skin-friendly. Allergies to silver are very rare. If you are known to have such an allergy, we definitely recommend choosing one of our gold alloys (14k, 18k)

Gold

We offer gold in two different alloys (14k, 18k). The alloys differ in their composition and therefore the pure gold content of the piece of jewelry. Since 18-carat gold contains more gold, the color of the material is more noticeable.

The gold jewelry not only offers emotional value, but also has long-term value retention due to its materiality.

We also offer our 14k jewelry in beautiful rose gold.

Finishing

We also offer the option of refining our jewelry by setting a diamond. If you want a particular spot in the relief to stand out, we can place a stone there.

We only offer this option for jewelry made of 14 and 18 carat alloys.

Silver

For our jewelry we use high-quality sterling silver (925)

We use this alloy because of the durability of the material. The material creates beautiful reflections through the relief and impresses with its unobtrusiveness.

Unlike gold, silver can oxidize. After a certain amount of time, a grayish, clear layer forms on the piece of jewelry. Please follow our care instructions to preserve the shine and value of your jewelry for as long as possible.

We produce our jewelry on request. This allows us to respond to requests in a targeted manner. Therefore, our delivery time is approximately 4 weeks. This applies to jewelry from the collection as well as personalized jewelry.

Before you buy the personalized piece of jewelry in the online shop, please contact us via email ( info@bergkette.at ). To request your personalized piece of jewelry, we need information about the desired cut. You can send us different file formats for this purpose.

Please include this information directly with your request so that we can create designs straight away. We will send these to you for you to choose from. Once you have decided on one of the designs, you can place the order in the online shop and thus place the order.

Design process

When it comes to personalized jewelry, it is important to know that not everything is possible. The two most important factors for creating a piece of jewelry are the scale and the height profile of the chosen mountain range. This means that the cutout can be larger or smaller depending on the mountain range. Of course, we try to accommodate your needs here.

Mountains too flat?

If the selected mountain range is too flat and even a detailed section does not create enough excitement, it is possible to manipulate the height profile. Here, the z-axis of the relief is multiplied by a factor (x). This makes it possible to transform even flatter mountains into exciting gems.

IMPORTANT: This means that the mountain range is not shown true to life. Nevertheless, it represents the selected map section in an abstract form.

Value chain

BERG.KETTE was born out of the desire to generate value. It is not just the pieces themselves that represent personal and emotional values. The aim is to generate value along the entire value chain.

We don't see ourselves, but the earth, as the designer of each of our pieces. We have therefore decided to share the profits generated by our jewelry label with the earth. 10% of our profits go to a non-governmental organization that works in the Alpine region to protect nature and combat the effects of global warming. A list of the organizations can be found in our FAQs.

We also donate 5% of our profits to the Austrian Alpine Association to maintain hiking trails in the Alpine region. We are initially starting a cooperation with the Vorarlberg section, which will initially be supported by donations. The aim will be to agree on cooperations with other sections in order to include them in the added value of our jewelry label. (A more precise calculation is being planned and will be added here shortly)

sustainability

Our goal is to design and sell climate-neutral jewelry. The creation of CO₂ cannot be avoided in any production chain. We will therefore compensate for the emissions generated through various processes. We are still in the process of selecting a suitable partner for this, as not all initiatives guarantee the same level of efficiency. We do not believe that planting trees alone is the most effective measure in the fight against climate change and are therefore looking for additional CO₂ sinks with a more sustainable approach.

We also strive to consider the entire supply chain and therefore use sustainable packaging solutions to ship our goods.

production

We produce our jewelry exclusively in Europe to keep supply chains as short as possible.

We do not see sustainability and the values ​​we want to create as a static construct. We therefore strive to continuously improve and question our processes in order to ensure the highest possible approach to sustainability.
